International Cheese Awards Press Release September 2018: We hear from the Big Cheeses!

It’s two months now since the world’s biggest and best cheese show took place in Nantwich, and time to draw breath and reflect on this year’s amazing celebration of international achievement in the dairy world. I’ve been catching up with some of the leading lights of the Cheese Committee – the people who make the show possible – to find out their favourite memories of ICA2018 and what they’re already looking forward to about next year’s show. We’ll hear from Show Secretary Adrian Lawrence and Vice Chairman Ian Luxton over the next couple of months, but we start with a few thoughts from Chris Chisnall, who keeps pretty busy all year in his role as Chairman of the International Cheese Awards alongside his day job as Marketing Director of Bradburys Cheese. He had this to say:

“As a committee of the International Cheese and Dairy awards in Nantwich, we're all extremely pleased with the 2018 show and we've had great comments from competition entrants, sponsors, trade attendees and the public.

To complete the judging of 5,183 cheeses in 5 hours with 300 judges is an unbelievable feat - our show goes from strength to strength every year. We seem to get more overseas entries and better quality cheeses every year, which in turn attracts even more people who want to be a part of the show. It was great to see a British Supreme Champion and a business local to Nantwich in Belton Farm win the accolade this year, and also to see the increasingly competitive nature of the retail cheese and dairy classes with Morrisons winning Supreme retailer for the first time.

We’re already starting the planning for next year's show and we will look to improve on this year's communication, organisation and execution.....see you all at the 2019 International Cheese and Dairy Awards.

Gearing up for ICA 2019…
