Valentine’s Day Competition: Win a Selection of Cheese from Hickson and Black’s Deli

Apparently, music is the food of love. This is, of course, complete nonsense: the food of love is food, and more specifically, CHEESE.

That’s why, with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, now is the perfect time to show the person you love just how much you care by winning them some cheese – even if that person is yourself. Thanks to the generosity of Hickson & Black’s, specialists in farmhouse cheese, we have an assortment of beautiful British and Irish cheeses just waiting to be packaged up and sent to one lucky winner in our special Valentine’s Day Twitter competition.

Hickson & Black’s – owned and run by Jay Hickson and Steve Black – is a delicatessen situated in Chorlton, South Manchester, specialising in farmhouse cheeses, cured meats and fine wines: in other words, all of life’s essentials. One lucky winner will receive a selection of goodies hand-picked by Jay and Steve to reflect the great variety of native cheeses available in this country, as well as give a taste of the wide range of temptation that lurks within the hallowed walls of their cheese emporium. Your prize will include 150g of each of the following cheeses: Gorwydd Caerphilly, Isle of Mull Cheese, Wigmore, Ardrahan, Swaledale Blue and Golden Cross – you can see them all posing winsomely below, and the boys are kindly providing tasting notes so you can look knowledgeable when you tell your friends about them afterwards.

If you’re not lucky enough to win, you can take a look at Hickson & Black’s marvellous range of cheeses here on their website, or pop in for a chat – Jay and Steve know everything there is to know about cheese and are always happy to make recommendations or put together a selection to suit your tastes.

How to Enter

All you need to do to be in with a chance of winning is to follow both the International Cheese Awards (icheeseawards) and Hickson & Black’s (hicksonblacks) and retweet one of the competition tweets from the ICA timeline. The competition closes at 7pm on Friday 14th February – meaning that even if you’ve left it too late to book a restaurant table, you’ve at least got a chance of redeeming yourself by announcing that you’ve won some cheese. Good luck!
