A call out for Volunteer Stewards

The International Cheese and Dairy Awards (ICDA) event is moving from Nantwich to Staffordshire for a three-day celebration of food in October 2021, as the largest Cheese and Dairy Show in the world, it offers trade days and stands, awards and attractions for visitors with retailers joining celebrity chefs, producers, exhibitors and buyers but it needs a back-room staff to make it work!

As Chief Steward I am very keen to work with as many volunteers as possible from the local and surrounding areas - much as we have done with the local people of Nantwich and Cheshire Volunteers for over 100 years at Nantwich, with many joining the new venue in support!  This will be a global celebration of, principally, British dairy produce but with a great selection of global cheese and dairy produce too.  We are proud of our heritage at Nantwich but the need to have a more permanent and regular event has overtaken our success to date. Consumer focused with meet the buyer and judging! It is exceptional.

Stewards’ Aim:  to support the judging on the main trade day, in order that 5000 entries with 120 Judges, each paired with 2 stewards will all be judged.

So, what are we after? This will be a FIVE phased operation:

  • Phase 1:  Set up the stands and judging areas, Tuesday 19th October.
  • Phase 2:  Allocate positions for 5000 dairy products, Wednesday 20th October.
  • Phase 3:  Judge, with steward support the 5000 dairy products. Thursday 21st October
  • Phase 4:  Two days of public viewing: Friday and Saturday 22 and 23rd October
  • Phase 5:  Recovery phase and tear down the show, Sunday 24th October.

We are after people to cover all phases, there will be admin (Numbering, counting, recording) and physical jobs (Laying out tables, covering tables, carrying cheese, disposing of cheeses)

It’s our showcase to the world: its physical, its digital and it tastes great.
